Xiaomi or Redmi To Debut MediaTek’s mt6895 SoC

A Weibo tipster revealed today that MediaTek’s previously released Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 terminals have been distributed for the first time. Xiaomi or Redmi is expected to launch or monopolize another 6nm chip, the mt6895.

From the point of view of naming, the mt6895 is slightly stronger than the mt6893 and the mt6891. At present, it is only known that the main frequency of this chip on Xiaomi’s engineering machine is up to 3.2GHz, but the specific parameters have not been announced.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 10X 5G in the first half of last year. It was the first phone with the MediaTek Dimensity 820 chip. It scored around 400K in AnTuTu. Thus, it is equivalent to the Snapdragon 855.

As a reminder, the Redmi 10X has a 4G version too. Apart from the SoCs, there were other differences between the two. Say, the Redmi 10X does not have NFC, and the Pro version has. The Redmi 10X front camera has a 16MP resolution, while the Pro version comes with a 20MP camera. The rest of the hardware is basically the same. For the core part, they all adopt MediaTek’s Dimensity 820 chip. The latter is based on a 7nm process, has an 8-core structure (4 A76 2.6GHz + 4 A55 2.0GHz), etc.

On January 20, 2021, MediaTek officially released the new Dimensity 1200 chip, using TSMC’s 6nm process, with 1 Cortex-A78 core at 3.0GHz, 3 Cortex-A78 at 2.6GHz, and 4 Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz. The performance is improved by 22%, and the energy efficiency is improved by 25%.

It is reasonable to speculate from the naming positioning that the mt6895 is expected to be the same or even partially surpass the Dimensity 1200 chip.
