This afternoon, Samsung officially launched a new generation of Exynos 1080 processors in Shanghai. The Exynos 1080 processor adopts a 5nm process, Cortex-A78 CPU, Mali-78 GPU configuration, while taking into account the characteristics of high performance and low power consumption. At the press conference, Samsung announced that Vivo products will this processor for the first time.
The Exynos 1080 uses EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography). It is considered the best manufacturing process for next-generation CPUs so far. Compared with 8nm LPP (mature low power consumption), the 5nm EUV process adopted by Exynos 1080 has improved performance by 14%. It also reduced power consumption by 30%. So compared with 7nm DUV (deep ultraviolet lithography), performance has increased by 7% and power consumption Decrease by 18%.
According to Samsung, the integrated modem of Exynos 1080 improves the speed of downloading content. It allows you to stream and load faster with less delay. It is compatible with two types of 5G networks, namely millimeter wave (mmWave) and 6 gigahertz (GHz). The latter can also achieve a downlink speed of up to 5.1 gigabits per second (Gbps) in a sub-6GHz environment. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 and the sixth-generation wireless network technology (Wi-Fi 6) to ensure that Exynos 1080 is always connected.
The Exynos 1080 supports various frequency bands. It includes 5G NR Sub-6GHz 5.1Gbps (DL) / 1.28Gbps (UL), 5G NR mmWave 3.67Gbps (DL) / 3.67Gbps (UL), LTE Cat.18 6CA 1.2Gbps (DL) / Cat.18 2CA 200Mbps (UL). The Exynos 1080 supports GLONASS positioning systems: GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. It also supports LPDDR5 / LPDDR4x memory and UFS v3.1 storage.
The Exynos 1080 is designed to support faster and safer device built-in AI. It supports applications such as virtual assistants and augmented reality (AR). It is for process information directly on your device to improve the level of intelligent services. The powerful neural processing unit (NPU) and digital signal processor (DSP) enable Exynos 1080 to run up to 5.7 trillion operations per second to support various AI applications.
Samsung’s Exynos 1080 processor uses the latest 5nm process technology. Compared with Samsung’s 7nm process, Samsung’s 5nm process has increased the number of transistors by more than 80%. It can bring stronger performance and lower power consumption. Samsung said that this time the Exynos 1080 processor uses a new CPU architecture core. Single-core performance is increased by 50%, and multi-core performance is increased by nearly 2 times.
The Exynos 1080 is designed to easily manage performance-intensive tasks. It allows you to quickly switch between applications with less delay. Based on its three-cluster central processing unit (CPU) system, its eight-core CPU combines an Arm Cortex-A78 core with the highest performance of 2.8GHz. It also combines three high-performance 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four efficient 2.0GHz Cortex-A78 cores.

It supports a full HD refresh rate up to 144 Hz (WQHD+ @90Hz, FHD+ @144Hz), enabling highly smooth and interactive touch response. HDR10+ is a high-quality dynamic range technology.
