Recently, one of the XDA senior members introduced a new Xiaomi foldable smartphone code-named Xiaomi’s “Cetus” from the code of the latest MIUI 12 beta version.

Actually, the foldable smartphone industry is an underrated one. However, it is slowly making its prospective steps in the market. For instance, Samsung recently applied Xiaomi for a patent on a dual folding smartphone design.
One of the return key values is ‘FlodAbleDevice’. The latter is a misspelling. It should be FoldAbleDevice (folding device). Another evidence is that there are fields in the display code to monitor and identify the folding state. Hence, there is every scope to think we are dealing with the first foldable smartphone of Xiaomi.

In terms of configuration, the information is limited. However, it includes a Snapdragon processor, the Android 11 underlying system, a 108MP main camera, etc. It means that the Xiaomi’s Cetus will have every advantages such as the previous smartphones.

Previously, Xiaomi had demonstrated a prototype of a dual-folding smartphone. Moreover, it has also released the concept of the MIX Alpha surround screen. However, there has been no follow-up information.
On the other hand, Android counterparts Samsung and Huawei, folding screen phones have set off lots of market responses. Considering that Huawei is encountering difficulties, it may be a good time for Xiaomi to launch a folding screen.
