On January 12, the a Weibo blogger revealed important information about MediaTek’s upcoming 5G SoC. He mentioned that it will be the MediaTek MT6893.
This chip is based on a 6nm process and uses ARM’s latest Cortex A78 architecture. The name of the chip may be Dimensity 1200. At present, Snapdragon 888, Exynos 1080, and other chips use ARM’s latest Cortex A78. What makes the MT6893 special is that it is the first MediaTek chip supporting the 6nm A78 core.
Taking into account that the Dimensity 1000+ adopts the Cortex A77 architecture, the Antutu running score exceeded 500,000 points. At the same time, the comprehensive score of MediaTek MT6893 exceeds 600,000 points.
What’s more important is that the Digital Chat Station claims that Redmi will use this MT6983 chip. So, the specific model will probably be the Redmi K40 standard version. Furthermore, Redmi has already announced that it will release the Redmi K40 series next month. According to the official confirmation, the Redmi K40 series will support the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 flagship processor. On top of that, the series will support the Pro version of the Snapdragon 888.
The standard version may use the MediaTek MT6893 chip and support SA and NSA dual-mode 5G. The new product will officially debut after the Spring Festival (February 12).
