Today, Lu Weibing, the general manager of the Redmi brand, officially announced the preview of the new Redmi K40 on Weibo. The Redmi K40 series will be officially unveiled next month. It will have Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor Snapdragon 888, priced from 2,999 yuan ($463). Thus, this phone will become the cheapest Snapdragon 888 flagship phone on the market.
In addition to the processor, Lu Weibing also revealed that the Redmi K40 will have “the most expensive face-to-face screen in history”. The battery is definitely greater than 4000mAh. Lu Weibing said that in 2021, Redmi will not be afraid of any opponents and will carry out the price-performance ratio of flagship phones to the end.
According to previous news, the Redmi K40 series will still launch two models, including the Redmi K40 and the K40 Pro, each equipped with different hardware configurations. Among them, the Redmi K40 Pro is the flagship model, which has the Snapdragon 888 processor. The K40 standard version focuses on the mid-range market and will be equipped with a new generation of MediaTek 5G processor.
Redmi K40 Pro
Some time ago, some users have exposed the renderings and spy photos of the Redmi K40 Pro. The Redmi K40 Pro will use a center-hole-punch display on the front. The diameter of the front opening is also very small. The screen-to-body ratio is also very well controlled. The direct-facing screen design will reduce some costs. It can also effectively avoid accidental touch, green screen and other problems. The back of the K40 Pro uses a design similar to the Redmi K30s, equipped with a big eye rectangular four-camera module in the upper left corner. The right side of the camera module also has a laser focus and flash.
As for the Redmi K40 standard version, the machine will be equipped with MediaTek’s next-generation sub-flagship chip. The previously exposed running score information shows that the chip is based on the 6nm process. It adopts the latest ARM Cortex A78 architecture. It is composed of Cortex A55 and the GPU is Mali-G77 as well. The running score information shows that this chip’s score on the AnTuTu platform exceeds 620,000 points. It has surpassed last year’s Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon 865 chip.
