Recently, a Weibo blogger showed a MediaTek MT6893 engineering machine running score. It’s a new MediaTek SoCs. He said that Xiaomi has opened a case for testing. But then it changed to Redmi and is ready to go. So there is every reason to think we are talking about a new Redmi smartphone powered by the upcoming MediaTek chip.
The single-core running score of the engineering machine can be stabilized at about 4000 points. Thus, it is stronger than the current MediaTek’s strongest Dimensity 1000 Plus. The multi-core score is about 10k-11k. But the blogger said that the engineering machine has room for further optimization. So the performance of the production version will be the same or even surpass the Dimensity 1000+.

The Geekbench test shows that the chip has 8 cores. According to reports, MediaTek announced that it will release a 5G chip with a 6nm process technology. The model of this 5G chip is MT6893. It adopts the ARM Cortex-A78 core design. The main core has a maximum frequency of 3.0GHz. It will be manufactured by TSMC 6nm. The MediaTek MT6893 adopts a 1+3+4 octa-core design; the GPU is Mali-G77 MC9. The source said that the CPU frequency and architecture of MT689X are the same as that of the Samsung Exynos 1080.
But the blogger stated that the MT6893 prototype parameters are a 2.8Ghz± A78+3*2.6Ghz± A78+2.0Ghz± A55+G77MC9. The frequency is basically the same as Exynos1080. In addition, the chip may have an overclocked version. Samsung’s Exynos 1080 processor uses Samsung’s latest 5nm process. It also has a 2.8GHz Cortex-A78 core, three high-performance 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four efficient 2.0GHz Cortex- A55 cores.
Earlier, we learned that the MT6893 should be released before the end of this year. It is also likely to be carried on a smartphone of a Chinese company. So, the retail price of a smartphone equipped with the MT689X chip may be RMB 2,000 ($303). It is worth mentioning that the blogger has previously stated that MediaTek is preparing two new chip products. The models are MT6893 and MT6891. So there is every reason to think besides these two, this is another chip.
