Not surprisingly, a long-waited Snapdragon 875 is coming. After issuing the invitation letter to foreign media, today, Qualcomm China’s official WeChat account also sent invitations to domestic media. The 2020 Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit will be held from December 1st to 2nd. The previous Hawaiian island scenery was missed this year due to the epidemic.
Qualcomm said: ‘The highly anticipated Snapdragon Technology Summit will be held soon. This year, we will bring you the beautiful scenery of the island and the latest blockbuster release on Snapdragon online.’
After the announcement, Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi China and general manager of the Redmi brand, reposted the above Weibo and said: ‘I look forward to…’
In fact, as early as September 16 when Apple first released the 5nm A14 chip, Lu Weibing had posted on Weibo status suggesting that Xiaomi/Redmi would release new products that feature the Snapdragon 875. Specifically, the corresponding ones are undoubtedly the Xiaomi Mi 11 and the Redmi K40 series.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 will be available in 2021
According to past practices, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 will be commercially available in Q1 2021. Not surprisingly, Xiaomi’s digital flagship Xiaomi Mi 11 will be the first to use it. Well, it will be at least one of the firsts.
Previously, media had shown the GeekBench 5 running score of the Snapdragon 875. The Samsung Galaxy S21, that sports the Snapdragon 875 too, ran out of single-core 1159 and multi-core 4090. The Xiaomi Mi 11 ran out of single-core 1102 and multi-core 4113.
For comparison, the Snapdragon 865 Plus averages about 980 points for single-core and 3300 points for multi-core in GB5. The increase of Snapdragon 875 is about 18% and 25%, respectively.
