On December 1, IDC announced the quarterly tracking report on China’s wearable device manufacturers for the third quarter of 2020. The report shows that China’s wearable device market shipped 32.93 million units in the quarter, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%.
The shipments of basic wearable devices (wearable devices that do not support third-party applications) were 26.16 million units, an increase of 16.6% year-on-year. And the shipments of smart wearable devices were 6.77 million units, an increase of 10.6% year-on-year.
Judging from the ranking of TOP 5 vendors, Huawei ranked first with 9.414 million units shipped, with a market share of 28.6%. The shipments increased by 60.5% year-on-year.
According to the report, Huawei launched TalkBand 6 this quarter, pushing its bracelet product line to a new high. Not only did Huawei GT series maintain its strong performance as always, but the Honor Watch also achieved significant growth with the promotion of new products and the follow-up of offline channels.
Xiaomi ranked second, with 7.241 million units shipped in the quarter. A market share is 22%, a year-on-year decline of 7.7%. As a new product, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 not only helps Xiaomi to be the number one in the domestic bracelet market but also continues to make efforts in overseas markets.
Apple ranked third with a shipment of 5.868 million units, with a market share of 17.8%, a year-on-year increase of 66.1%. In this quarter, Apple released the Watch 6 and SE series to further drive its watch segment to record shipments. While the AirPods series is gradually migrating to high-end models, it is still showing steady growth.
BBK is the fourth, with shipments of 1.881 million units and a market share of 5.7%. BBK’s Little Genius is still strong in the children’s watch market. In the third quarter, during the traditional sales season for children’s watches, it ranks first in the children’s watch market.
As an audio manufacturer, Sony has leaped to fifth place in the market with the development of its gradually intelligent headset product line. Shipments were 631,000 units, with a market share of 1.9%.
