A Small Body Of Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Chip Has A Lot Of Energy

At the Snapdragon Technology Summit Qualcomm gave a detailed introduction and analysis of its new chip Snapdragon 888. At the conference site, Qualcomm also showed the real body of the new generation of Snapdragon 888 chips. The Snapdragon 888 integrates Qualcomm’s third-generation 5G modem and radio frequency system-Snapdragon X60. This chip supports all major global millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz frequency bands. It also supports 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM card functions. It supports Independent (SA) and non-independent (NSA) networking modes and dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS).

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 888 uses 1 x 2.84GHz (ARM’s latest Cortex X1 core) +3 x 2.4GHz (Cortex A78) +4 x 1.8GHz (Cortex A55. The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform has a brand new Adreno 660 GPU. The graphics performance of this GPU is 35% higher than the previous generation Adreno 650. The energy consumption is reduced by 20% compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon 888 is the first Qualcomm flagship mobile platform which has an integrated 5G modem. This 5G modem is the Snapdragon X60.  It also supports WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2.

Judging from the live photos, the X60 baseband is integrated and the larger Cortex X1 core is used. But the area of ​​this chip itself is still very small. It is a circle smaller than a 5 dime coin, it can be said to be that there is a lot of energy in the small body. After the release of the Snapdragon 888 chip, many smart phone manufacturers have announced that they will adopt the Snapdragon 888 chip in the first batch. At the technology summit, Qualcomm announced that Android smartphone OEMs including Asus, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, Meizu, Motorola, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, OPPO, Sharp, VIVO, Xiaomi and ZTE are all in Research and develop smartphones based on Snapdragon 888.
