2019 Smartphone Shipments Are 389 Mln, 5G Smartphones 13.77 Mln

On January 9, 2020, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the December 2019 and full-year smartphone market reports. In the domestic market, last year, the supply of smartphones made 389 mln units. It is 6.2% less than last year, 57.7 mln. According to data from the Institute of Information and Communication Technology in December 2019, the total domestic smartphone market shipments were 30.444 mln units. As a result, of a year-on-year decrease of 14.7%, of which 1.461 mln were 2G smartphones, 23.57 mln were 4G smartphones, and 5.414 mln were 5G smartphones.

For the full year of 2019, the total domestic smartphone market shipments were 389 mln units. The latter is a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%, of which 16.13 mln were 2G smartphones, 58.000 were 3G smartphones, 359 mln were 4G smartphones, and 13.769 mln were 5G smartphones.

5G Smartphones

The 5G smartphone market in China amounted for 14 mln. The ICT Institute did not compare data domestically and abroad for 2 months after the commercial use of 5G. Although the 5G smartphone market in China is undoubtedly the largest in the world according to the Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technology. In addition, 10.000 5G base stations will also need to become China’s largest 5G market.

For the whole of 2019, domestic brand smartphone shipments were 352 mln units. However, a year-on-year decrease of 4.9%, accounting for 90.7% of smartphone shipments in the same period.

After that, 506 new models were registered, which was 27.2% lower than the analog period. It constituted 88.3% of the model of the new smartphone. In addition, for the whole of 2019, the supply of smartphones was 372 mln. It is 4.7% lower if you compare the same period last year. Accounted for 95.6% of smartphone shipments over the same period, of which 91.2% of smartphones accounted for Android phones.
