Recently, Xiaomi released a new Wi-Fi 6 router – Redmi router AX6. It costs 369 yuan ($53). It is already on sale, and we have got our hands on it.
Like the Xiaomi AIoT router AX3600, the Redmi router AX6 uses a horizontal design. But the shape is squarer and the IoT antenna is removed. However, the hardware configuration is basically the same. Thus, for the same configuration, you pay less.
In terms of performance, the Redmi router AX6 is equipped with a Qualcomm 6-core enterprise-level chip. The dual-band concurrent wireless rate reaches 2976Mbps (2.4GHz 574Mbps, 5GHz 2402Mbps). In other words, it is 2.55 times the wireless rate of the mainstream AC1200 router.
The 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands of the Redmi router AX6 come with 2 and 4 high-performance independent signal amplifiers, respectively. In total, we have 6 independent signal amplifiers. As a result, the coverage is increased by 50%.
The router also supports 2×2 160Hz and 4×4 80Hz MU-MIMO modes, without manual selection. It also supports Mesh networking with other Xiaomi routers, including the Xiaomi AX1800, AX3600, and Redmi A5. Due to this option, it meets the coverage needs of super large units.
In addition, the Redmi router AX6 also has a built-in Tencent online game accelerator. The latter supports mainstream server game acceleration, covering all platforms of PC, smartphone and host.
