This morning, Xiaomi’s founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun talked about an interesting thing on social media. He stated that from the 1GB + 8GB of the Xiaomi Mi 1 to today’s 16GB + 512GB of the Mi 10 Ultra, the speed of technological progress is real too fast.
The Xiaomi Mi 1 came with a 1GB + 8GB configuration, which was a top combination at that time. Today’s Mi 10 Ultra has reached the 16GB + 512GB combination. As Lei Jun said, ‘I have to feel that the speed of technological progress is so fast.’
The first-gen smartphone of Xiaomi was released on August 16, 2011. It was priced at 1999 yuan, which is about 289. At the same time, the phone featured a Qualcomm 1.5GHz dual-core processor and run on the MIUI operating system. And its 4-inch screen had a 480×854 resolution.
Lei Jun also stated in his tenth anniversary speech that everyone knows the Xiaomi Mi 1 generation is priced at 1999 yuan. But he didn’t know that the original plan was 1499 yuan ($216).
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra was announced on August 16. It uses a 120Hz native 10bit screen, supports 120 watts of wired charging, 50 watts of wireless charging, and 10 watts of wireless reverse charging. It has 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB four capacity versions.
In other words, we can say that there have been many changes in the smartphone storage combinations and other aspects. But Xiaomi has been always trying to bring the top configuration in order to mee the requirements of premium users.
