At the event, Yu Chengdong announced the Harmony OS architecture map. It is currently used in watch applications, large-screen applications, car applications, and PC applications. It has a multi-user program framework. The basic services include multiple RunTimes, general system services, lot device-specific services, distributed data management, virtual peripherals, UI & Graphics and so on. The system uses the Linux kernel, the Harmony microkernel, and LiteOS.
According to reports, Harmony OS will serve as the product of Huawei’s arrival in the era of full-scenario experience and take advantage of its lightweight, compact and powerful functions. It will be the first to be applied to intelligent terminals such as smartwatches, smart screens, car devices, smart speakers, etc. A cross-terminal integration and sharing ecosystem reshapes a safe and reliable operating environment to create a new experience of smart life for consumers.
Harmony OS is the first distributed architecture for terminal OS, which can realize seamless collaborative experience across terminals. By using the two technologies of determining delay engine and high-performance IPC, this OS solves the problem of insufficient performance of existing systems. It adopts the new microkernel design features, enhanced security features, and low latency.
