According to the January 12 news, Apple filed a patent application. The patent shows that Apple is planning to install a touch sensor on the Apple pencil. Thanks to it, the touch sensor pencil can read the user’s natural touch sensor (Part of the gesture).

In the patent application, Apple claims that “touch sensors are used to detect multiple click gestures of the user”. For example, when the user places a finger on the holding area and then raises the finger, the stylus can detect it. As a result, the Apple pencil can detect the resulting capacitance or cause the capacitance changes. With touch sensors, functions such as copy, paste, undo, and redo may be implemented with one or more clicks in the future.

To meet the needs of the stylus, Apple needs to ensure that patents cover all conceivable applications. The applications include multiple processors, one or more sensors, a bio-scanner, a camera and a microphone. Future Apple Pencil may even include a fingerprint scanner. The latter gives an ability to verify Apple Pay, App Store purchases or open certain banking or financial applications while using accessories.
