Xiaomi Mi 10 To Come With Micron LPDDR5 flash memory

Micron announced this morning that it delivered the world’s first mass-produced LPDDR5 DRAM chip. This will be the first to run on the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 smartphone. Micron said the industry needs a flagship event to activate the 5G high-end market and boost industry confidence.

According to the LPDDR5 memory standard released by JEDEC, the data transfer speed of LPDDR5 increased from 3200Mbps of the previous generation to 5500Mbps. So this can transfer 44GB data per second.

Micron’s LPDDR5 delivers up to 6.4Gbps, according to the official official data. Compared with the previous generation, its data access speed increased by 50%. Power consumption decreased by more than 20%. The benefits to the phone are obvious: faster speeds and longer battery life.

Micron’s current LPDDR5 memory capacity shipped to customers includes 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB. This partly reflects the Xiaomi Mi 10 memory version. However, given that the MI 9 Pro eliminated the 6GB version, the MI10 is also likely to start at 8GB.

With the continuous development of 5G network and AI technology, people’s requirements for memory performance and low power consumption will be higher and higher. Chang Cheng, Vice President of Xiaomi, said the LPDDR5 will be the standard for flagship phones in 2020.

Recently there was an outbreak. Some in the industry made relatively pessimistic forecasts for the smartphone market in the first quarter of 2020. So as Meguiar’s microblog notes, the smartphone industry is in urgent need of renewed confidence. And the release of the LPDDR5 flash memory of the MI 10, will take the first step to restore confidence.
